Changes to Mackenzie Transfer Station

Changes are coming to the Mackenzie Regional Transfer Station in the new year.

Beginning January 1, 2022, the transfer station will be open Sunday to Thursday from 9:00 am – 5:00 pm. It will be closed Friday and Saturdays and all statutory holidays.

Staffing challenges have necessitated the change, along with opportunities for operational efficiencies.

“We recognize going from a seven day a week operation down to five days a week may pose an inconvenience for some residents. However our first priority is providing a safe work environment for our staff and we are challenged to do that when facing a staff shortage,” says Laura Zapotichny, Manager of Waste Diversion Programs with the Regional District.
