It’s That Time of Year

Black bear standing in front of a tree in the snow

Have you noticed the snow is melting? Which means spring is on its way!

Living in bear country, it also means that bears will be emerging soon. As bears emerge, they will be seeking out fresh grasses and sedges to feed on as well as winter-killed animals. Do not let garbage and other attractants like compost, pet food and bird seed draw them into our community.  Secure your attractants!

For ideas on how to secure attractants visit WildSafe BC.

Please share this post to help remind your neighbours and friends that the bears are back! Together we can help break the cycle of bear conflicts by securing all attractants. Help keep bears wild and our community safe.

Stay tuned over the next few weeks for more ideas to secure attractants and how we plan to change our bylaws to increase public safety and reduce risks created by garbage in the community.
