Residential Garbage Collection Disruption & Bylaw Reminder

The District of Mackenzie is currently experiencing a disruption to regular residential garbage collection services due to damage to collection equipment. This incident highlights the importance of following Garbage Rates and Regulations Bylaw No. 1487to protect equipment and ensure safe efficient service. Residents are asked to follow these regulations:

  • Garbage must be placed at the curb between 5:00 am and 8:00 am on your scheduled collection day. Containers must be removed within 24 hours of collection.
  • Household garbage must be securely bagged and placed in District issued containers.
  • The following items will not be collected and are the responsibility of the homeowner to dispose of properly:
    • Hazardous materials (chemicals, batteries, medical waste)
    • Construction or demolition debris
    • hot ashes
    • liquids and loose or unsafe materials
    • Organic materials such as bush and tree trimmings and yard waste

The Municipality reserves the right to not remove such material. 

Our Public Works team provides essential services in all conditions. Residents are reminded to treat staff with respect, patience, and kindness, particularly during service disruptions. Following our Garbage Rates and Regulations bylaw helps protect workers and prevent further delays.
