Chief Administrative Officer Resigns
Mackenzie, BC - Dean McKinley is leaving the District of Mackenzie after serving as Chief Administrative Officer for the past three years. McKinley joined the District in January of 2017, previously serving for nine years as the Director of Economic Development for the Northern Development Initiative Trust. Dean has accepted the position of Chief Administrative Officer for the Sunshine Coast Regional District and will commence his duties starting January 6, 2020.
Mayor Joan Atkinson stated “Dean’s contributions to the District of Mackenzie have been outstanding. One of Dean’s greatest strengths is his visionary outlook on how to make things happen, despite what at first glance might seem like an impossible dream. The past year has been very challenging for Mackenzie but Dean’s forward-looking thinking has kept us on the right path. Dean will be sorely missed by all of us. On behalf of Council, we wish Dean all the best in his new position and thank him for his many contributions to our operations”
Dean McKinley said, “These past three years in Mackenzie have been the most rewarding years of my career by far. I have never worked with a more dedicated and professional team, where Council and staff work together so positively to advance so many initiatives and projects to make Mackenzie an outstanding community in which to live and work.”

Dean will be working with Council to begin the process of finding a new Chief Administrative Officer immediately.
