Public Hearing – Nov. 26, 2025 – OCP Update
Mayor and Council are holding a Public Hearing to receive feedback on the draft Official Community Plan Bylaw No. 1528, 2025
Why Are We Updating the Official Community Plan?
The Province of British Columbia introduced significant changes to the Local Government Act to address the ongoing housing crisis and to expand housing options across the province. Bill 44, the Housing Statutes (Residential Development) Amendment Act, mandates that all local governments update their housing needs reports and their Official Community Plan Bylaws to reflect the report’s findings by Dec. 31, 2025.
The 2025 Housing Needs Report was completed and presented to Council in July and an updated Official Community Plan Bylaw has been developed for Council’s consideration based on public engagement over the last few months. We thank everyone who participated in the surveys and open house and sharing your input into the development of these documents.
