Photographer Call-Out

The District of Mackenzie has received grant funding from the Northern BC Tourism Photography Program and is now seeking a talented local or regional photographer to help us tell our story through powerful imagery.

We are offering $1,000 for a 20-image photography package, captured according to a detailed shot list provided by the District.

Project Details:

  • Budget: $1,000 for 20 high-resolution edited images
  • Usage: Tourism and promotional purposes by the District of Mackenzie

What We're Looking For:

  • Natural light photography – ideally captured during morning or evening golden hours, and in a mix of conditions (not just sunshine!). We’re after that authentic Northern BC feel – think moody skies, misty forests, glistening snowfall, and golden reflections on water.
  • Variety in perspective – images should be taken in portrait and landscape orientation, with multiple angles (head-on, above, side, and ground-level).
  • Composition with space to breathe – please include resting/negative space in some shots. Big skies, solid darks/lights, and clean water shots are great for us to overlay text or logos in future marketing materials.
  • Clean, usable backdrops – while nature is beautiful, overly busy backgrounds like leafy forests or grassy fields may not always work. Simpler elements help make your work more versatile.
  • Final selection – the District will select the final 20 images from a larger collection submitted by the photographer.
  • Preferred equipment – While we welcome all submissions, preference will be given to photographers using professional camera equipment to ensure the highest image quality for tourism marketing use.

If this opportunity speaks to your creative eye and you'd love to help showcase the beauty of Mackenzie to the world, we want to hear from you!
