National Indigenous Peoples Day

NIPD2023
National Indigenous Peoples Day gives us the opportunity to recognize and celebrate the rich and diverse cultures, voices and histories of First Nations, Inuit and Métis peoples.
As a District, we are privileged to work in a region that includes the traditional territories and ancestral lands of the McLeod Lake Indian Band.

Last year the District partnered with McLeod Lake Indian Band to bring Chubby Cree to Mackenzie for National Indigenous Peoples Day. This year, McLeod Lake Indian Band is inviting you to their celebration hosted in McLeod Lake. View the event poster below.

The District's Recreation Services team partnered with Morfee Elementary School to assist them with delivery of their sports day this week, which featured indigenous games for youth in our community.

We continue to look for ways to recognize and celebrate with our indigenous partners and community members throughout the year.
