Destination Events Program: Upcoming Funding Opportunity for B.C. Events
Are you planning an event in British Columbia? The Destination Events Program (DEP) will soon be accepting applications to help fund events that enhance B.C.’s reputation as a top event destination while boosting local economies.
How the Program Works
The DEP provides funding of up to 10% of your total event budget, with a maximum of $200,000 per event. Eligible expenses include various operational costs. To apply, your total event budget must be at least $150,000.
Application Timeline
Applications will be accepted from April 7, 2025, to May 5, 2025, at 11:59 p.m. (PDT). Late or incomplete applications will not be considered.
Who Can Apply?
Eligible applicants include:
- Indigenous communities or organizations
- Not-for-profit organizations
- Businesses
- Local governments
Eligible Events
Events must take place in B.C. between June 1, 2025, and September 30, 2026, and fit within one of these categories:
Sporting Events:
- Spectator sports
- Organized races
- Exhibition events
Arts & Culture Events:
- Live music and film festivals
- Cultural celebrations
- Art walks and mural festivals
Agricultural Events:
- Fairs, rodeos, and exhibitions
- Festivals hosted on farms, orchards, or vineyards
Important Deadlines
- April 7, 2025: Application intake opens
- May 5, 2025: Application intake closes at 11:59 p.m. PDT
- September 30, 2026: Deadline for spending approved grant funding
- Final report submission: No later than three months after the event concludes
