Are You Prepared?
To reduce the risk of a wildfire, we discussed last week how to remove surface fuels from the ground surrounding your home; We're going to discuss transferring your firewood this week. Because there is so much dry fuel stacked up against your house, storing firewood in this manner can be risky. Move your firewood pile at least 10 meters away from your house to lower the risk. This lessens the possibility that drifting embers could ignite the woodpile and lessens the possibility or a fire spreading to your home.
