Are You Prepared?
Structure Protection Units, or SPUs, are one of several tools a community can use to protect residential and commercial buildings during a wildfire. Structure Protection Units are used to insulate surrounding surfaces, including roofs, to lessen potential damage. Their effectiveness rises when these systems are used in Fire Smarted homes. The Mackenzie Fire Department operates and maintains two SPUs. Should BC Wildfire Service request it, a unit can be deployed to another community to assist with wildfire protection.
