Yukon Blonde Headlining Rockin’ the Ridgeline – Music, Bike & Art Festival in Mackenzie, BC

Yukon-Blonde

Yukon Blonde is the headline performer at this year’s Rockin’ the Ridgeline festival in Mackenzie, BC.

The FREE event takes place on Saturday, July 27 starting at 9:30am.

This celebration was first designed to create awareness for Mackenzie’s growing outdoor recreation trail systems. A crown jewel being an epic 14km downhill trail on Morfee Mountain, which features picturesque views of the surrounding landscape. During the event, there will be free shuttle access to the top of Morfee Mountain (Ridgeline Trail) from 9:30am to 4:30pm. Participants can then bike or hike their way to the base of the mountain through the newly developed downhill trails or explore the top of the mountain and ride the shuttle back to the bottom. Other local biking/hiking opportunities include the Azan Tunneh trail around the entire town, Lakeshore Trail around Morfee Lake, Little Mac Ski Hill trails and the jump/pump track community bike park located in the heart of downtown.

The music portion of Rockin’ the Ridgeline will kick off at 4:00pm with local artists Rowan Siebert and Katrina Holden, along with visiting artists Naomi Shore and Ben Matchett. Yukon Blonde will take the stage at 8:30pm.

Yukon Blonde, based in Vancouver BC, has earned a JUNO award nod and a SOCAN #1 song award for “Saturday Night”. The band has had tracks featured in major series like Grey’s Anatomy and Revenge. More recently, the single, "Summer in July" was featured on episode 2 of the Amazon Original hit series, The Summer I Turned Pretty, which garnered the track over 2 million streams.

This family friendly festival will also feature a pop-up art gallery, food trucks, a kid’s area, and beer gardens with Deadfall Brewing Company selling their craft beer.

More about Yukon Blonde:

From the buoyant and bouncy indie rock that defined their first half-decade together – culminating in 2012’s incomparable Tiger Talk – through their experimentation with emotive ‘80s pop on 2015’s On Blonde to the seductive, synth-heavy Critical Hit in 2018, the band’s back catalogue is incredibly diverse.

The band’s 2020 single, “Get Precious” hit Top 10 at Commercial Alternative Radio, while “Saturday Night” and “Love The Way U Are” both went #1 on the CBC Music Top 20. In 2022, the band was handpicked by Modest Mouse as direct support on their summer 2022 tour.
