The District of Mackenzie is currently accepting applications for qualified Temporary Full-Time Building Operator to join our team. This position is responsible for the day to day operational requirements of the Recreation Centre and adjacent areas, and performance of minor corrective maintenance. The position requires use of manual and powered cleaning equipment and hand tools. Building Operators utilize the ice resurfacing machine, snow blower, ice edger, skid-steer, man lift and drive the District of Mackenzie Department vehicles. Building Operators are required to safely handle cleaning, swimming pool and ice plant chemicals, as well as prepare and utilize appropriate chemical supplies and personal protective equipment in a safe manner. The work requires considerable physical and repetitive tasks such as sweeping, shoveling, painting, mopping, lifting, overhead work, climbing and bending in varying climatic conditions and footing surfaces.
Located in the scenic Northern Rocky Mountains Trench 185 km north of Prince George, Mackenzie offers superb four season outdoor recreation opportunities and an exceptional quality of life. Successful candidates must: be 19 years of age or older, possess grade 12 or equivalent, First Aid Level 1, possess a valid Class 5 license, and the ability to obtain RFABC Basic Refrigeration Awareness Certification, and RFABC Ice Facility Operator Certification.
This is a unionized position within the CUPE 3706 Bargaining Unit, offering an hourly wage of $32.39.
