Mark your calendars for the Northern Roots Symposium this Saturday, September 13, 2025, at the Mackenzie Recreation Centre. Doors open at 10:00 AM and the day is packed with speakers, contests, and prizes.

Schedule of Events:

10:00 AM – Doors Open to the Public

10:15 AM – Welcome Message by Mayor Joan Atkinson

10:30 AM – Speaker Session #1 with Kenna Jonkman, General Manager, Community and Development Services for Regional District of Fraser-Fort George

11:00 AM – Deadline for Contest Submissions

11:30 AM – Speaker Session #2 with Kevin Pettersen, Advisor for Export Navigator

1:30 PM – Speaker Session #3 with Anna Duff and Alanna Le Cerf, Community Futures

2:00 PM – Contests Closed and Judging Begins

2:20 PM – Contest Winners Announced and Closing Remarks by Kyle Tapper

Everyone who attends will also be entered to win door prizes, including a Food Cycler valued at $500.

If you love a good old bragging right, here’s your chance. Enter the Harvest Showdown featuring the biggest potato, tallest sunflower, largest zucchini, and oddest-shaped veggie, or show off your skills in the Sourdough Scoring Contest.

Contest entries are due by 11:00 AM and winners will be announced at 2:20 PM.
